Psalm 143:8
"Cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning; for in you do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk; I lift up my soul unto you."
Each morning presents a new day to surrender ourselves to the Lord, bask in His presence, asking for and receiving His grace for another day. What do we long for the most? Who do we want to hear in the depths of our souls? Is it not the voice of the Holy Spirit, speaking words that relieve the heavy heart, bringing comfort to the weary, and satisfying the longing soul? There, in the quietness and stillness of the dawn, we make the beginning of our day a special time with the Lord. In order to hear Him in the morning, we must be present with Him. He watches over our sleep and awaits our waking; He wants us to come to Him early.
Wonder of all wonders, the God who created the universe with all of its complexities waits to spend time with us. As unworthy as we may feel, God looks at us through the lens of the atonement and sees in us His Son. Our unworthiness is not accounted as binding because Christ has settled accounts for us, and through His sacrifice, all who come to Him with surrendered hearts are accounted as righteous. They are considered worthy of the presence of God. Because of the blood of Christ, we can look toward heaven and know that the things we ask of our heavenly Father will be provided. His lovingkindness is more than enough; through this divine quality, He provides for those who are His, often in spite of themselves.
"Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee." Psalms 63:3
Because He is all-knowing and all-wise, we look to Him for direction because in Him is the way of security and safety. Because He is our Savior and deliverer, we surrender our souls to Him.
